How to Use Content Creators to Bust Pyramid Schemes

When FOD Economie needed to alert young people about the dangers of pyramid schemes, we knew we had to grab their attention in a relatable way. Rather than relying on traditional ads, we created an engaging online mini-series, $hit! Opgelicht / M€rde Arnaqué, to reach them where they spend most of their time: social media.

We teamed up with well-known content creators like Jietse Pauwaert, Gerben Tuerlinckx, Vidal Alexe, and David Dieu. In the series, these influencers appeared to join a pyramid scheme, only to reveal the harsh reality of these scams from the inside. This approach allowed us to make the issue relatable and engaging for younger audiences who are often drawn to the promise of quick money.

By using a format and faces familiar to young viewers, we helped FOD Economie expose the truth behind pyramid schemes in a way that felt authentic and hard-hitting—while seamlessly fitting into the digital spaces where these audiences are most active.
