Challenge

Sibling violence is the most frequent form of family violence, yet it often goes unrecognized. However, the consequences can be serious, affecting children’s mental health and family dynamics. Helpline 1712, a support organization for individuals facing violence, sought our help to bring attention to this issue and encourage families to recognize sibling violence for what it is—a significant form of violence.

Idea and execution

To encourage open conversation, we launched RAAR ("Weird"), a book specifically crafted to highlight and explain various forms of sibling violence. With clear language and relatable examples, RAAR is designed to empower parents and educators to recognize harmful behaviors between siblings. The book challenges the stigma surrounding sibling violence, reframing it as a critical issue that warrants attention.

We distributed copies of RAAR across Flanders and Brussels, supported by posters, social media animations, and discussions led by influencers to amplify the message. Through this initiative, we aim to break the silence surrounding sibling violence, equipping families with the tools to foster open dialogue and a healthier family environment.
